ECO-FRIENDLY TIPS FOR EVENTS
Are you organizing an event and hope to limit its environmental impact? Find our easy eco-tips you can implement in this section, as well as links and files if you want to go further. Your receptions will be all the more noticed if they are responsible.
MOBILIZATION
To involve the stakeholders: Each participant of the value chain is an action lever and must be mobilized at his level. The organization committee is making decisions before, during and after the event. It must thus be involved first and foremost in the start-up. The service providers and field participants of the event are also directly involved. The guests must also be made aware to have an influence on their behavior. And the media has a key role in terms of passing on a message to the general public.
TRANSPORTATION
Transportation is very often the central focus of major emissions in the organization of an event. It represents sometimes more than 90% of CO2 emissions, and it is thus essential to make it a priority goal for reduction.
- Encourage the guests to take the train in negotiating group rates
- Offer parking to all ride sharing
- Implement the video conference to avoid useless commuting
- Have a fleet of electric vehicles for commuting on-site
- Compensate CO2 emissions from the organizers’ commuting
COMMUNICATION
With the predominance of the internet and mobile devices that support communication, it seems henceforth useless to communicate using paper.
- Use of the internet via a site that’s a central point for information
- Use of social networks, emails and SMS to spread news
DINING
To eat organically is not only better for one’s health, it is also a way to limit one’s impact on the environment. Organic red meat is 30% less emitting than non-organic red meat. The ratio is even more pronounced for vegetables, since organic vegetables are 50% less emitting of CO2 than non-organic vegetables.
